Norm:  It is only an opinion and not always a good one.. Sometimes I think in their zeal to get points people simply rate questions without even reading them. I try to read the answer and read the askers comments before I rate the answer. I put a lot of weight on the askers satisfaction.

seahawksmd:  People give thumbs down for a few reasons. If they think the answer is any way rude or saracasti, if they disagree it was the best way to address an answer, or if they feel they were right. I only gave one thumbs down when it was a factual question and the person picked an answer that was flat out wrong. I'm a science teacher, knew the answer cold, and they went with osmeone who gave a dumb answer from the movies. Sheesh! As for your, someone may have thought there's was better, or maybe it was a service guy at a dealership who wanted to soak them for more money!

freebird:  No you cant report them, you cant even find out who it was. some people give thumbs down because their answer was not choosen.... it's not fair, but it happens that way. Some just want a point for rating so they tumbs down every thing with out even reading the question or responce. I am sorry you were a "thumbs down" victom, however that is how it's played.... not always fair, but still it's how it works.

fire4511:  A thumbs up or thumbs down rating is an opinion. A thumbs down on your answer is someone saying that for whatever reason, they did not like your answer. It could have been something that they disagreed with or it could have been they did not like the way you said it. It is not abuse. You do not lose points for a thumbs down, you only get points for a thumbs up. Why are you letting it gt to you? Opinions are like a certain part of your body, located where you sit. Everyone has one, and most are full of "stuff"
