Grumpy:  Get them fixed. On most car and trucks, with disk brakes, there is a metal tab that makes a squealing noise when the brake pads need to be replaced. However, a grinding noise is metal on metal, you should not drive the vehicle any farther than necessary to get it to a service center to have the brakes inspected and repaired. Yours: Grumpy

dodge man:  if you can hear them doing that ,,they may have eaten in to the rotor,s and this can be very dangerous,,they could fail at any time,,but they may just be in to the warning tab,s on the pad,s this warn,s you that they are getting worn down a lot,,what you need to do is take the car and have it checked out at a repair shop,,and see what they say,,you will probably need brake,s,,but don't wait to long this can get you killed,,and maybe somebody else also,,brakes are the very most important thing on a automobile,,getting it going is easy,,stopping it ,,is another thing,,hope this help,s,,i do this for a living.
