I Have a 97' Toyota going to pep boys to repair want good breaks that stop at the slightest touch. Best brand?
And also I will NEVER buy breaks for $9.99 again. I want great breaks but I want them at a resonable price any one have any suggestions on what the best brands are at pep boys and what I should ask for and watch for with me being a woman.

stringfellow:  If you're taking it to Pep Boys, all their brakes are pretty much the same. Just get something semi-metallic. If you want serious stopping power, you have to get BIGGER brakes, something like Brembo, but I doubt you'll find them at Pep Boys, and they'll cost a LOT. Try driving slower.

dzeyoyo123:  semi mettalic pads ... but really there are limitations in a cars design ...theres only so good its going to get and there could be other problems if its not stopping good like the booster or master cylinder....or air in the lines Personally ive had good success with cheapo break pads lol...and the worst thing to watch out for is someone telling you you need a complete new brake system for 600+ ...thats almost always bs ...usually all it takes is pads and shoes and a brake-bleed

b4dmuthafuka:  look for aftermarket brakes and rotors. better venting is better stopping power and will keep the brakes from overheating and loosing stopping power. semi-metallic brake pads to go with this should do the trick with drilled, slotted, or combination rotors

eatyou465:  gold version of whatever-brand u pick .but that isn't what makes them stop better. bleeding the air out of them is where you get ur stopping power , also having ur rotors turned !p.s. price shop or have a male go with you , no offense but if a woman goes alone to any maintenance shop they get ripped off most of the time !
