The car, other than its in need of repair, is indeed in immaculate condition despite its age, theres sentimental value involved too, it was my late fathers car. It burns oil at high speed, and the head gasket is now in need of change. Its got 45,000 genuine miles on the clock, but its failing fast. My question is to you guys, do I spend the money on repair, or do I buy another car?

nazmin b:  IT IS ONLY UP TO YOU TO MAKE THE DECISION. IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH TO BUY A GOOD CAR FOR PROPER USE AND IF ON TOP OF THAT IF YOU HAVE EXCESS CASH THAN I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU BETTER GET THAT CAR ON THE ROAD IE HAVE IT REPAIRED AND IF YOU DONT WANT TO KEEP DRIVE IT THAN KEEP IT AS A SOUVENIR.

Graeme C:  Nope, the cost outweighs the value of the car, get a replacement second hand car for the ?1400!

middenmaker:  Thats not much mileage for a Toyota, has it been thrashed? Do not throw good money away, scrap it for spares and sell them. Use your money as deposit on decent car, these older cars are having trouble getting through the MOT because of the strict emission tests.Forget sentimental, that will not increase your bank account.

chunga12413:  This is a tough decision you will have to make.I recommend you should buy another car,the vehicle is 19 years old, once you start fixing ,the repairs will seem to never stop. You can buy a used vehicle that is newer and reliable.I know it has sentimental value,in this case I would maybe hold on to it and try doing your own repairs in your spare time while you have another vehicle to drive. Good Luck

Mr. Twilight:  i spent 1000 for my repair for like yours so it depends how old is your car and if its 8-10 years old its time to get a new car thats a tip for you. Change your car every 8-15 years or if u want to keep it for "showing off" just repair it.
