1994 Toyota Corolla - need to replace motor mounts (engine mounts)?
I think I need to replace the motor mounts in the wife's 1994 Toyota Corolla. The engine runs fine but it vibrates the whole car when it's started up cold. Partially goes away after the engine warms up I'm a reasonably competent shade tree mechanic but not that familiar with Toyotas. Is there a link to an online step-by-step procedure for this job (online service manual) ..and/or exploded diagram of the engine and mounts. Also need tips on which ones to replace. TIA, Warren C. Found a parts diagram. There are four mounts. Front, Back, Left, and Right. Since this is a transverse engine, I assume "front" means towards the grill and back means towards the firewall, while left means towards the drivers side fender, and right means toward the passenger side fender. Is this right? The instructions of puttting it into gear (drive and reverse) and see which way it mounts need replaceing.....so would that mean the front or the rear mount? How do I tell if the left or right need replacing.....or one of the transmission mounts? Thangs again. Warren C.

hawop:  Engine mounts are fairly simple to replace on four cyl. You can get a Haynes manule or Mitchell on line.

dodge man:  i own a repair shop, and an easy way to find out which ones are bad id have her put it in gear ,and you look at the engine, and see which direction the engine moves the most ,when t being put in gear ,this will help you narrow it down to the exact mounts it needs and i don't think you,ll need a diagram,,its just about like putting mounts In a regular engine,it just sits different that's all the difference is,and there are three mounts in it, for the engine, and two or three for the transmission also,,and a bad trans mount will cause it to do this also,,good luck with it,i hope this helps.
