2000 Honda Civic Front End Repair Question?
2000 Honda Civic Front End Repair Question?
PLEASE HELP!! I am trying to figure out what the hell this repair shop is trying to pull. I was in an accident in a 2000 Civic where I sustained moderate front end damage. Initial estimate was $2900. Now the shop is trying to raise the estimate to $3900, saying the "core board" (cork board?) has to be replaced at an aftermarket cost of $200 for the part and 14 hours of labor. This seems excessive and I have no idea what this part is. Can anyone shed some light on this? What is this part? If it really does need to be replaced, is 14 hours (!) excessive? THANK YOU!!
No, I'm pretty sure it was core board or cork board. The guy described it as the piece that holds the entire front end together, behind the reinforcement bar.

Robert P: sure they didn't say FLOOR board? (wouldn't know why this part if it was front end damage.... is you insurance paying for this? if so the adjuster needs to be notified.... have the garage SHOW you what needs to be replaced and explain WHY

sajeeracing: I am not really sure what a core board is. If you have front end damage most likely you have to repair or replace the following. Front bumper cover, bumper beam, headlights, radiator support (this is the bar that goes across from left to right, top bar where your hood latch is), A/C condenser, radiator and fans etc, etc, etc depending how far the damage is. Sometimes people refer to radiator as radiator core and A/C condensor core. What ever it is make sure you ask the shop to show you the part in question and see for your self if it need replacing.
