toyota corolla?
ive been offered a 2000 (x) toyota corolla 1.4 GS, can anyone tell me how much it would cost to change the cassette player to a cd player as the cassette player was designed for the car so a strandard one won't fit i live in kent (england)

MOM KNOWS EVERYTHING:  We replaced a factory installed cassette player with a CD player just this last Christmas, in a 2001 corolla. I assume it wouldn't be any harder to find one for a 2000. I think it cost about $130.00 to buy and my husband changed it himself. Check crutchfield.com I'm pretty sure that's where we got it.

Christina L:  Go to radio shack and ask a customer service rep. It should not be that expensive.

shootdraxxus:  Cheapest one on crutchfield is 80 bucks. Crutchfield is cool because they will tell you if you need anything else for your car such as a special bracket or anything else.

gary l:  hi there, you can get a dash face plate adapter for your car and it should cost mo more than ?20, then if you aint got a cd player you can pick a good one up for about ?80-?100, there wont be any modification to the wiring coz all the cars today have universal ISO connection, so all you'll have to do is pull the old stereo out unplug it, push the adapter plate in, connect you're new head unit and push the new stereo back into the dash, hope this helps gary

SirShitalot:  Any standard cd player will fit, believe me. Prices on a normal low to mid end range from 80-150 bucks.

Jesus ate my underpants:  standard does fit -- its bolted on brackets i believe, behind dash facia,it would be wise to use a wiring converter as its japanese and it wont match the standard connector (I base this on a slightly older corolla)
