detroitguy73: It could be a number of things. It could just be a lose rod
I would suggest finding a local shop who does free estimates. They will look at it and give you a written estimate of the repair. You'll know what's wrong and how you want to go about fixing it. Use that estimate at other places to barter for a lower cost.

The Authority: Thats a tough one, but my guess is a its a lifter tapping. That is something you probably wouldn't be able to fix yourself.

gustavo6723: Ford,(fix or repair daily). The problem seems to be with the gas you're using. I bet you use regular unleaded ,right? You need to add on a bottle of "High Octane Cleaner". It will stop the "ping" and every time you fill up,add some STP GasTreatment to clean out your cylinders.

hotwildrod62: it sounds like a lifter or a push rod. I would let a pro tackel that one. very hard to do

Larry T: I'll have to go with a sticking lifter too. Make sure the oil level is to the full mark (not over) and if the problem doesn't go away try a good cleaner like 5 min cleaner. you add it to the oil run the engine for five min then drain well, replace the filter and oil. Then change the oil again after about 1,000 miles. After that change the oil every 3K miles, and use the good stuff, there is a reason cheap oil is cheap.

Roushed2: Dont worry about it. It is actually a normal thing from V6 Mustangs.
Mine does it everyone I know with a V6 Mustang does it.
