How much would you estimate this repair cost? (frozen pipe)?
How much would you estimate this repair cost? (frozen pipe)?
Pipe froze in kitchen.
Plumber spent a good amount of time locating the frozen pipe.
Plumber tore up floor to get to pipe.
Plumber repaired frozen pipe with own materials. (probably about 8 hour job in total).
Contractor repaired floor with some of own materials - that seemed to take about 8 hours also.
I live in NJ and I have no idea of what their hourly rates would be, but i know the plumber is inexpensive comparatively.
Do these time estimates appear unusually long?
Thank you!
Answers:
HanZ: about $500-800 for plumbing
about $400-600 for gen contractor
well this is the rate in CT, so NJ is about 45mins from here, so i think it's about the same.

pellco: If the plumber had all materials with him and did'nt have to leave the job. I can't see it taking more than 4 hours plus travel time . $ 80 -$ 100 per hour plus materials
The floor guy would need more time to fix . So an 8 hour day seems right .
Just pay them you cheap bastid
