Ticking sound after oil change, Mitsubishi eclipse?
I have a 4g64 on a 1998 eclipse. I just changed the oil, and used the same kind of oil as last time, and now it has a ticking sound, seems to have it after every oil change, it goes away in awhile, but I wanted to know what it could be? I used 5-30 Synth.
Answers:
mark l: Get rid of the Fram oil filter and change the weight of oil. Go up.

caffeinetripp: Lifter tick. Nothing terrible to the engine, merely an annoyance. You can replace the OE lifters with Mitsubishi's "revised" lifters (larger oil tappets to allow more oil to enter the lifter itself and get rid of the ticking) or use a heavier weight of oil.
