What is causing a ticking sound from my front left wheel?

What is causing a ticking sound from my front left wheel?
I have a constant ticking sound coming from my front left wheel. The vehicle is an 04 GMC Sierra 1500. The rate of the ticking is not affected by the speed im traveling. I also noticed that my rim is very hot. Much hotter than the other side and of course hotter than the two back rims. I am just wondering what is causing this ticking.

Ed:  if your wheel is hotter than the rest your brakes may be hanging and not properly releasing. and your slide bolt banging into its bracket
