whirlpool dryer repair estimate?

whirlpool dryer repair estimate?
I have a Whirlpool Electric Dryer. The dryer is not heating. Both 110 fuses in the 220 electrical circuit are working fine. We've checked the dryer ventilation and there is no blockage. We've also cleaned the dryer ventilation and removed all lint buildup. The dryer still will not heat. What else could the problem be, and what would a reasonable estimate for repair be?

lake bum:  There is also a high limit and a cycling thermostat, a motor switch, and this circuit also goes through the timer. You will have to get an ohm meter and physically find the open circuit.

nicholas:  Sounds like bad heating element. Disconnect power from unit follow the power wires to the heating element and with a multi meter check continuity between the two connections. If no continuity heating element is bad.

Three_Kings_Clooney:  Hmm, even with your description, your dryer sure does have an elusive problem. I say so long as the machine is otherwise okay (once the heating is fixed), it may be worth keeping and having it repaired for once by a local appliance contractor. That's what I'd do. Check to see how much it would cost by getting local estimates from appliance service contractors. Use the phone and call around. Better yet, since you're online, you can also just as easily get free estimates by taking advantage of a text-link ad found on the following handyman site (I use for informative artices) that offers up to four (4) Free Estimates from such local appliance contractors in your area (scroll down a bit and it's the text-link towards the middle of the page): http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Appliance_Zone_Dryer.htm Click on the "Find Appliance Contractors...Get Up to 4 Quotes Free" text link. Guessing on here is not as productive as getting a quote upon which you can rely. Trust me, from general experience, you'll be glad that you got concrete estimates--especially when it concerns the questioning of throwing out an appliance that may actually turn out to be more economical to have professionally repaired rather than to have it replaced. Good luck!
