why can we hear a ticking sound when theres no clocks?
everytime i go to my boyfriends house we hear a ticking sound in his bedroom and its about twice the speed of a clock, and he has no clocks in his room. its really freaking us out. it lasts for around 8 seconds and then stops. It happens every day and every night. He is convinced its in his wall. He pealed away some wallpaper to the concrete ( the wall next to window) and it stopped. well for now. what could it have been???!! a ghost???

Dave:  I used to have that in my room. My Step-Dad reckoned it was to do with the electric cables buried in the wall.

Shinzy:  I've actually got the same problem at my house. A piece of metal framing is resting close to the wall, but is just about 1/16th of an inch away from it. When a rather large truck goes by and makes the house shake, the frame touches the wall and there starts to be this 'rap-tap-tap' that lasts for about ten seconds, then stops. I just put a pad between the metal frame and the wall. Helps a lot.

Ha ha:  Not a ghost. Probably some little critter. My central air conditioner also makes a ticking sound just before it comes on. The a/c has to do with the timer on it to turn it on and off. Is the unit outside his room?
