Sean:  Bare minimum, start at $1500. If a shop does it for less, consider yourself blessed. A warped head is very very bad. It's basically half an engine rebuild. You don't really need to replace the block or head if they are warped, they just need to be milled (or machined) flat.

mdk68gto, ase certified m tech:  its not the gasket warp-age that is a problem, the head or block is the issue. while they have the head(s) off, they should be checking both for anything like this any way. a simple straight edge and a feeler gauge is all that you need. the cost could be quite expensive if you are replacing the head(s)

don r:  $1200-$1500 to change the head gasket. Add more for repairing head cracks or resurfacing warped head- shop rates, whatever they are.

Joe:  Since you used the word "warped", I suppose you mean a "warped cylinder head", because there is no such thing as a head gasket being warped. I wouldn't be surprised that they are going to have a charge in your total bill of around $1,500 for the labor, but then you will have a charge for resurfacing your cylinder head, and I have no idea of what is charged for that in today's economy. (I'm what you call an old-timer). They are limited as to how much metal they can shave off, so if it is badly warped you will have to go to a junk yard and get one.
