Ticking Sound?
I have a definite ticking sound comming from the engine of my '95 chevy tahoe 5.7 gas engine. my friend says its either a lifting rod or one of the exaust gasgets, if it is not the gasgets how do i check the lifting rods to see which one is bad. my friend could not tell me how to check them

Why does my 02 Mustang have a ticking sound from the engine on cold starts?

Should I be hearing a ticking sound from the catalytic converter when the car is running?
My car makes a ticking noise, pretty loud and lasts a good 15-20 min after I turn off my car. I was informed by a mechanic that its normal and the exhaust cooling down. The sound goes off when I turn the temperature knob to warm. The noise only comes on when the ignition is on or the engine is running. Thank you. ticking sound coming from front wheel on 03 malibu, cv joint?
I have an 03 malibu and I have this ticking sound coming from the front wheel area. If I didn't know better, it sounds like a stone or something bouncing around in my hubcap, but louder. it sounds like it goes away at about 45 mph, and i'm not noticing any sounds over that speed. It doesn't sound like I'm getting any "growling" sounds that are usually associated with bearings though. The boots on the CV joint look good, and the car just has 50,000 miles on it. I loose some power going up hills, it is jerky or hesitant in some gears, and there is a ticking sound that wasn't there before. Some days are better than others it seems to depend on the cold weather. Really cold weather and not warming it up properly seem to agitate it more. Why does my 2000 Z24 Cavalier make a ticking/George Jetson's car sound when I accelerate?
This seems to happen when it is about to rain or has rained/snowed (related to water I guess). The higher my RPMs when I accelerate, the faster the noise/ticking sound. From my ceiling there is a continuous ticking sound about every 5-10 seconds. It drives me crazy, I have to sleep with music in the background. I don't think it is dripping from the apartment above.
